Moving to Catalina

No this has not turned into a real estate blog, we are talking mac OS 10.15 otherwise known as Catalina.  The mac 10.15 Catalina OS is the newest OS for the Mac and marks the first Apple OS that requires 64-bit apps. The newest operating system for the Apple Mac was released earlier this month, October 2019.    Most of the drivers for the new OS have been released and can be found on the support pages for the printers.  Please check for the drivers before you upgrade your OS to avoid any printing issues from upgrading with no drivers available.

To find the newest drivers navigate to the Xerox Support and Drivers page for your model.  Make sure to choose the printer configuration you have, if applicable, and then select the Catalina operating system from the Operating System drop down menu. Install the driver.

You may also see updated scan drivers for your multifunction device. If you utilize scanning, update those drivers as well.  Most of the new drivers will have a date of October 2019.

If you do not see a driver for your machine please consult the compatibility document to see if a driver has been or will be created for the model of printer or multifunction device you use.  Some drivers are still under consideration and will have a number 3 in the compatibility level column of the document. Check back periodically to see if the new driver has been released.

If the compatibility level column indicates a 2 then no driver is planned for that model printer.  Check the Additional Information column of the compatibility document for more information about possible workarounds or limitations of the drivers.  For a printer without a driver and no information in the Additional Information column you can try using a previous version of the driver, for instance the Mojave driver though not recommended or supported. Using an earlier version may not afford you all the features or options for your printer.

Please consider all your peripherals and there compatibility with the new Catalina OS before you upgrade, it may help you to avoid unnecessary frustration. For additional information, you can also reach out to your local support centre or post a question on the Xerox Community Support Forum.

HUUUGE disappointment. I’d never expect that a company like xerox can still be evaluating if it makes sense to update their drivers or not. So basically if I update to Catalina now, my printer is bricked… (WorkCentre 3025, bought about a year ago…); or more precisely: I guess I should still be able to print via AirPrint, but what about scanning?!
can’t find the words… next time I’ll just buy cheapest junk instead

I just bought a new B215. There are no drivers available for my mac OS Catalina. So, I guess this printer is useless to me since I can’t use this. Is that correct?

I am in need of drivers for a Phaser 3260 using Mac OS X 10.15 – the 10.15 update has rendered my printer useless and apple will not allow me to install the 10.14 driver to try to fix the problem. When can I expect an updated driver?

Hi – you compatibility document shows the WorkCentre 5150 has having a Catalina compatible driver, but when I visit the products driver download page, you have nothing listed under Mojave or Catalina.
Do you have any updates on where I can get the drivers for this printer?

Hi, I have a xerox 8580, using mac with Catalina, the problem is printing to auto select from Mail, everytime I try to print from mail it changes to manual feed regardless to the setting. When I look at paper feed profile it always changes to manual itself !

Is there anything I can do to fix this, I am using the latest 5.5.2 driver

    Thanks

    Chris

      Hi Chris,
Thank you for reading the blog. Please take a look at the latest Catalina driver that was uploaded to the ColorQube 8580 site on June 16,2020 and is version 5.5.9. If that doesn’t help please consider contacting your local support centre.
      Thanks,

I updated my computer to OS Catalina after being informed by Xerox that the drivers have also been updated and the printer should be compatible.
Now, after updating, I cannot connect to the printer and I can’t find a compatible driver. I contacted the local support, they gave up after trying for an hour and said the printer isn’t compatible and that the compatibility information on Xerox Website is false.
    This is more than fustrating!
What do you recommend to do?
I use the WorkCentre 7428 in my office.

      Hi Nader,
Thank you for reading the blog. You can still add the printer on macOS using the built-in “Generic Postscript PPD”.
If Xerox driver features are really needed, they could try an unsupported work-around in which they install the Xerox macOS Common Print Driver from a closely related product which is supported on Catalina. Note that there may be incompatibilities that could cause not all feature/function to work properly. If you need further assistance please contact your local support centre.
      Thanks,
      CherylO-Xerox

Is there a version of the updated Xerox Supplies Assistant that is compatible with the Mac Catalina OS? I downloaded the latest version, but my Mac won’t let me install it because it “Can’t check it for malicious software.”

Just bought a new MacBook Pro with macOS 10.15 Catalina. My printer is Xerox Phaser 3320, and there is no driver for Catalina. How can I print? My Phaser is still in great shape.

    Hi,
I’m using phaser 3160N and still happy with that, but now a bit frustrating
when I couldn’t find the compatible driver for my Mac 10.15 laptop.
Mac also doesn’t allow me to install the previous version such as for Max 10.10
    or 10.11.
Do you have any recommendation ?

I have the Xerox Phaser 3320 and have Catalina and installed the Xerox Phaser 4622 Catalina Driver and it works. I was able to use the bypass try. It took a lot of changing settings and testing but it work. I used the IP address of the printer to change the settings. You can just plug the ip into your browser bar. Default user / pass if asked is Admin/1111
