Memorial Day, Summer and Templates

Memorial Day weekend is upon us here in the United States of America. To many people it is the official start of the summer season and end of another school year. It is a long weekend to spend grilling out and enjoying time with friends and family.

Before you head off to enjoy your long Memorial Day weekend use this time to print some documents from the Xerox template library to wrap up the school year. Teachers as the school year comes to an end you will find a special section just for education templates with brochures and a certificate section that you can personalize and print for your students. So check out the templates for help with your classroom.

Another resource in the template library are beautiful full color posters like the one pictured here.  These posters have so many uses in school, to business, to post in your cubicle or office for your own enjoyment and / or inspiration.

Recently calendars that can be personalized for your customers, clients, employees or anyone you want have been added to the template collection. There are also other templates that you might find useful as you honor Memorial Day and move into your summer activities. Review all the documents and print out or bookmark those that will help you out. There are instructions provided for using and printing the templates. Remember that most of the templates are free to use and updated periodically so check back to the Xerox template library for new content.

Back to the reason for this holiday weekend – Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is about coming together to honor those who died in service to our nation. To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed on Dec 2000.  The resolution asks that at 3 p.m. local time Memorial Day, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”

Here in my area the Carry The Load relays end at the Dallas Memorial March.  The march is also the culmination of Memorial May fundraising activities to benefit the Continuum of Care partners. Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes including military, veterans, first responders and their families..  If there is a Carry The Load event in your area consider participating or donating to the cause.

Enjoy your weekend and try to find a way to honor those that gave all for us.
