Start Fresh: Reset your Xerox Printer

Have you ever just wanted to start over? Well with your printer you just might be able to start over. Let’s say your Xerox printer is moving to a new location or a new group and you want to reset the machine. We have a way for you to do that. You can reset the machine to the factory defaults and start all over. The process of setting the machine back to the factory defaults makes the machine like it was when you first took it out of the box, okay so it is now used but most settings will be back to the factory defaults.

Many of our machines provide this option and if the instructions are not in your Online support, then give the support centre a call and they can either walk you through the process or let you know if resetting requires a technician. Obviously this is an optional process and may not need to be done, but if you need to clear the machine to send it on to another owner or department this is an option. In rare cases the reset may be suggested for machine issues. To find the instructions to reset the machine please go to the support site for your machine and search on “reset” or “factory defaults”.

Resetting will return the many stored parameters to the factory default values but the print counts and the Adobe firmware serial number will not be affected by the reset.

Warning: All or most user and system settings will be lost. We recommend that you print out a configuration report or Systems setting report prior to resetting so that you can use the report as reference to restore the printer settings you wish to set up again. Please search on “configuration” or “settings report” in the online support section for your machine for the instructions for printing the report.

If you have any questions about this process as always please contact us at the support centre.

Well, that is 2 minutes of my life I can never get back. I would really like to know the procedure for reseting the VersaLink B405DN back to factory defaults. It was all setup, and then I set the Admin password, and the end user can’t do jack with it. At the computer that can’t change trays to print from… Nothing at all.. And there is no way to remove the admin PW, so I need to reset it to factory default so I can leave the Admin PW blank. SO I google it, and find a link that appears to tell me how to do it, but it states everything but how to reset it.

I had a 7125 donated to our nonprofit and I cannot find the information in the manual to reset to factory. I am unable to clear the TCP/IP v4. The one the screen is displaying is not the correct address for that port. It is set to Dynamic.

      Hi Christine,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. Please take a look at the solution for setting the ip address. There is not a way to reset the machine you would need a service call for a reset to be performed.
If the problem continues please consider contacting your local support centre.
      Thanks,

    Hi.
I bought a second hand WorkCenter 3655S printer for my wife as she’s a teacher and prints a lot each month. I just saw that the printer request a plan activation code and will only allow 500 copies.
Will it stop printing after these?
How can I opt-out of this plan?
I already replaced the nearly empty 106R02742 (metered) toner cartridge by a new 106R02736 (non-metered) but the message still appears. Any help would be apreciated… Thanks.

I have a phaser 3260 that has a mind of it’s own. I cannot change print size or layout. It just prints very small and I cannot change from landscape or portrait. I thought about resetting factory defaults, if I knew how.

      Hi Art,
Thank you for reading the blog. Here are the instructions for resetting the printer:
CAUTION: Depending on the state of the printer, a software reset may delete all pending jobs from the print queue.
To reset the system software from the Control Panel:
      1. Press the Log In/Out button on the Control Panel.
      2. Login as the Device Administrator (Default Username: admin, Default Password: 1111).
      3. Press the Machine Status button on the Control Panel. The Machine Status screen will be displayed.
      4. Select the Tools tab on Touch Screen.
      5. Select the Troubleshooting button.
      6. Select the Resets button.
      7. Select the Software Reset button.
      8. Select All Software.
      9. Select Reset.
      10. Select the Reset button on the Software Reset Confirmation screen. The printer will reboot.
NOTE: The printer will not be available for printing, or viewable through Embedded Web Server (Centerware Internet Services), until the Network Controller completes the reboot process and reconnects to the network.

If this does not help please make sure the settings are correct in the software you are using to create the document. If the issue continues please consider contacting the local support centre.
      Thanks,

    Hello,
i have to manage some Altalink devices among ones is a 8035.
i updated the firmware and still have issues or strange behaviour.
we use local device accounts user base plus AD user base filtered
    with papercut…
i create users on the device obviously, and the 8035 sees our AD
i then created rules stating non connected cannot print neither BW
    and/or color.
Strangely the rule prevents anyone _connected_ to print
We then installed papercut stuff ,the server and XDA can’t see the printer
    even with SNMP enabled …
Then i tried to reset the settings and now the printer tries to reach the
papercut server and fails on each reboot…
what the hell is wrong with this …?
i only have problems with the altalink 8035 none of the others give me headaches :-/
    thanks

I have a problem with a Xerox device that I buy. It happens that I print around 40 impressions and it indicates that the YELLOW TONER is finished but it is completely full. The technician came to review it and suggested that the chip was burned or damaged. I bought another chip and did the same thing again, came back to check it and had me change a sensor that was doubled and caused the failure … and. He did the same again! After 40-50 impressions it indicates that the yellow is empty. The last time the technician made a reset and the team returned to detect the tonner FULL and today again after printing another 50 sheets I returned to mark that this tonner is empty. I do not know what to do. Has someone already experienced this and knows how to solve it? I hope your loved answer. Thank you! I’m from Mexico, and I’m helping myself from Google Translate.
