It seems to be update season for operating systems. Recently new updates were released for the most popular operating systems Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS. Let’s look at how this may impact your Xerox Printers or Multifunction Printers. Microsoft released its Anniversary update to the Windows 10 OS. This update has caused issues for some people with settings not holding and reverting back to defaults. Windows has acknowledged the issue, it is not limited to the Xerox drivers. Please take a look at the information provided by Microsoft on this issue. Also take a look at this Xerox Community Forum post for information on this settings issue.
Apple released its new operating system update macOS 10.12 Sierra This update does seem to have impacted the printer drivers of many printer companies including Xerox. Drivers compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra have been posted for many of our printers. Please refer to the macOS 10.12 Sierra compatibility document to see if and when a driver will be available for your printer or multifunction device.
When using the latest driver from Xerox you may encounter issues if you attempt use IPP/Bonjour. Make sure you install the driver using a LPD port. Another setting that could cause issues is the setting in the Print With box. Make sure that the Print With box does not show Airprint or Generic PS, it should be set to Xerox ppd. If you have noticed any issues that have not been cleared by updating your driver please consider reporting them to your local Xerox Customer Support Centre or post on the Xerox Customer Support Forum.
Always remember to read release notes and any other documentation for operating system upgrades before loading them to your systems. Make sure the operating system updates are compatible with your peripheral products and that any patches or changes are made when updating so that you do not experience downtime. You may even need to put off updating for a while until you can get what you need to be sure all your connected products will work with your setup.
If you need additional information or have additional questions please search on the support page for your machine, post a questions on the Xerox Community Support Forum or contact your local support centre.
I can’t print on Phaser 3320 in our office using my Macbook with OSX Sierra 10.12. I understand that the driver for this is still being tested. I am really stuck – Is there a workaround?
Hi Joel,
Thank you for your comment. The Phaser 3320 does not have a driver for mac OS 10.12 at this time. Please try the driver for Mac 10.11 driver see the Xerox Forum Post for information on using the Mac OS 10.11 driver If that does not work please consider contacting your local support centre for additional help.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Here at the company we all updated to MC OS Sierra, and now our only workcentre 6505 will not print. Who checking you guys just put “you are EVALUATING issuing a driver????????” Really????? Can’t simply understand this. You spend your hard earned buck on a product, but get absolutely no support or a EVALUATING???? What are we supposed to do? Go buy another one?
Be sure if this update does not come around with a working update we surely will, but probably no one else in my company will EVER buy a XEROX product again. Hope you stop EVALUATING, and start giving SOLUTIONS!
Hi Patrick,
Thank you for reading the blog and I understand your frustration. I wish I had a better answer for you but at this time the WorkCentre 6505 does not have a driver available for mac OS 11.12. What you can try are the suggestions in this forum post. If the suggestions in the forum post do not help please consider contacting your local support centre.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
I am on a Mac running Sierra 10.12.2 and my Phaser 6500 is taking approx 1 1/2 minutes to print each page. This is frustrating but also makes me late for appointments! Can you please let me know what I can do? Thanks
Hi Adam,

After updating to OS Sierra the scanner is not available with Workcentre 6027.
I have to use alternate way like USB or sent to email address (not friendly setup)
The driver for OS Sierra is not available on your website.
Could you please estimate when the new driver will be available?
Thks

I can’t find a driver for phaser 3100mfp, Macbook with OSX Sierra 10.12. Maybe there are analogues this driver, or I can throw the trash my printer?
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for reading the blog. There is not a Mac OSX Sierra driver for the Phaser 3100MFP. Please review the compatibility document for further information. Consider contacting your local support centre for further assistance.

My Workcentre 3045 NI won’t work either on the Mac OS Sierra. But is there no other driver that could be used? One for another Workcentre or one for another Mac OS version?
Can I ruin the Computer and or the Workcentre if I just try? There is a version for Mac OS 10.6. for example.
Hi Julia,
Thanks for reading the blog. I would not suggest going all the way back to 10.6 but you can try the Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan driver. It will not harm the Mac or the WorkCentre to try. If this does not work for you please consider calling your local support centre for additional help.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
I purchased a Xerox Phaser 3320 printer on 6/30/2016, and Mac OS Sierra was released on September 20. And there is still no driver available. I am actually a networking technician: I recommended and installed two Xerox printers at Chase Bank’s Products and Services Division for their Mac-based graphics department. And I have done same for other clients. I love the product, but this is not the first time I have been without drivers for extended periods of time if not forever. I’ll have you know I just installed my first Samsung printer at a doctor’s office: I cannot have my clients asking me why I am installing printers that they cannot get drivers for. Or that I can’t update their system because they may or may not be able to print to their Xerox.
Hi Don,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. I understand your frustration. Have you tried the Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan driver? This has worked for several people. If the other driver does not help please consider contacting your local support centre for additional assistance.
Thanks,

It took some time for both Adobe and Microsoft to learn their lesson. If you want to stay in this business, you’ve GOT to demand your staff GET and STAY up to speed on rapidly evolving operating systems.
Apple provides Developer accounts for YOUR DEV TEAM to prepare YOUR SOFTWARE to be updated for ZERO DAY SUPPORT. Well, as it turns out macOS Sierra was released on September 20, 2016. That was nearly 5 months ago.
Plenty of time for YOUR DEV TEAM to get ready. Plenty of time to have drivers available to support macOS Sierra.
No wonder Xerox is losing ground on many fronts. Laziness. Complexity. Complacency.
Get your act together Xerox.

Hi Don,
Thank you for reading the blog and for your comment. I will escalate your concerns.

just installed Mac OS 10.12 Sierra and now my Mac mail crashes everytime. Says Mail quit unexpectedly when using Xerox paper options plug-in, anyone have this problem? thanks!
Hi Natalie,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. You will need to either post your question on the Xerox Customer Support Forum or call you local support centre. With out knowing what machine and driver you are using there is not much i can suggest.

Is there any plan for updated driver for Workcentre 6027 and Sierra?
When it will be available?
Scanner is not recognized by Sierra.
Therefore I have to use the workcentre panel and send scan to USB keys.
I believe you will loose a lot of customer….sorry for this sad comment
Hi Roberto,

Looking for an updated driver for the Docucolor 240. Any ideas when that driver might be updated for Sierra?
Hi Cary,
Thanks for using the At Your Service blog. I would suggest that you try to use the 10.8 driver if you are not able to get that to work please consider posting your question to the Xerox Support Forum, someone there may be able to help you. You can also call your local support centre for additional assistance.

Back to my issue with Phaser 3320 driver for Mac Sierra – After erasing 3320 out of frustration, I now re-installed it. Since there STILL isn’t a driver for Sierra, based on your advice from November I installed the driver for El Capitan (10.11). Sorry – It does not work any better.
Hi Joel,
Thank you for your comment. I suggest you contact your local support centre for additional assistance on this issue. There is not currently a Mac Sierra driver for the Phaser 3320 and if the El Capitan driver did not work for you maybe Xerox support as something else for you to try.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox

Hi is there an OS Sierra driver for the Workcentre 6605 for both print and scan?
Hi Ton Van Den Hoven,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. There is a driver for both printing and scanning available on the Drivers & Download page for your machine. If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre for additional assistance.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
I followed your suggestion and contacted the local Xerox Support. However, they had nothing to suggest. Am I at a dead end?
Hi Joel,
Thank you for your comment. If you have been unable to get it to print using the MAC OS 10.11 driver and support had no solutions then at this point I have no other options for you. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Hi Cheryl, As per your suggestion I contacted the local Xerox support to find out if they could help me with a driver for Phaser 3320 for my Mac with Sierra OS. Outcome – nada! So I am doomed to being unable to print from my Mac to the 3320.
Hi Joel,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. The driver that includes support of macOS Sierra 10.12 for the Phaser 3320 was released yesterday. If you need additional assistance please contact your local support centre and thanks for your patience.

CherylO-Xerox
I am reading comments on this page dating back to October 2016. I am looking for drivers for the Phaser 6180MFP. It has been 8 months since the new MAC operating system was released. Is there an updated ETA for when the appropriate xerox drivers will be made available. It seems that Xerox competitors are issuing supporting drivers much quicker that Xerox is, which makes it appealing to switch manufacturers. I am happy with my machine, but if the company cannot catch up, it is a serious deficiency.
Hi Courtney,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. I do not have an ETA on the driver. Have you tried using the driver for the Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan? If you can’t get that driver to work please consider contacting your local support centre.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Another 8 months later these drivers are still not available. Will there be available one day ? All the people buying a new Mac since more than 1 year cannot print anything with that printer.
Hi Lucas,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. Which printer are you asking about and which operating system? You can look up compatibility in the documents on the compatibility page.
If you have further questions please consider contacting your local support centre.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Thanks for (finally) releasing the Sierra driver for Phaser 3320. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem (the printer informs that it is “out of paper”, although it is not, and all the PCs are printing from it). I have gone through all permutations of turning my Mac on/off and deleting/installing the printer, pulling out the paper tray and re-inserting it – to no avail. I’ll try the local support, but my hopes (based on previous experience) are not high.
Hi Joel,
Thank you for reading the blog. Please take a look at this post from our Xerox support forum. I know this is not your machine or Mac version but the principles for the install are the same for you set-up. If these instructions do not help please consider contacting your local support centre or consider posting on the support forum.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Hi i have a xerox workcentre 3045 ni
my lenovo updated a few months ago to wndows 10. about 2 months ago it started giving errors to the point where our tech guy thought it was my pc, he wiped my pc reinstalled windowns 10 and updated all the drivers.
It worked for 2 days.
Now it says the printer is not conected or offline but it still send the job thought then is says data violation.
I was told there is just a generic driver update. and not a wnindowss 10 specific update.
I need it for work, so is my only option replacing the printer then?
Hi Rochelle,
Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. There is a Windows 10 specific driver available for you machine at this link. Please remove the driver you are using and install the Windows 10 driver and see if that clears up the issue. If not then please continue to contact your local support centre.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox

SOLVED: Offline problem with Xerox Workcentre 6515 that is connected via a wifi network. The printer showed Offline whenever it went into Sleep mode, even though it remained connected to a wifi network (printer console confirmed this) and the printer would not come back online when re-activated from Sleep mode via the console. The router also confirmed/indicated the printer was connected (with a static IP address). So it was connected via the wifi network but could not be used because of the Offline status. This is now resolved through forcing the printer to connect only via the 2.4Ghz channel (ie. not using 5Ghz).
Things that I tried and that did not resolve it: updating software, static IP address, connecting via IP address iso Bonjour, restarting router/printer/computer (it would only work until the printer would go into Sleep mode), removing Xerox printer drivers and re-installing from through OS X.
I am not a network expert and do not understand why this fix worked, but hopefully it works for others also!
Hi Derk,
Thank you for reading the blog. I appreciate you writing up this solution for printer offline or unable to come back online after sleep mode. I am sure your information will help other users that are encountering this issue.
Thanks again!

We´ve four Xerox 238 Printer and one Macbook Pro with Sierra 10.12. We need configurate this printer in the Macbook.. We downloaded the Xerox Globla Printer Driver, but it don´t list the Xerox 238. How Can We Solved this?.
Hi Juan,
Thank you for reading the blog. The Global Print Driver is for the Windows OS. This product does not have support for the Mac OS Sierra 10.12. You can try the generic driver provided by Apple Mac. If that does not work please consider contacting your local support centre for additional assistance.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Have you made a driver available for the Xerox Phaser 5550 printer that is compatible with Mac OSX Sierra?
Your website says check back for updates, but this horse left the stable a couple of operating systems ago?
If you no longer intend to support this product (which is still running perfectly, I might add), please tell me the truth.
Thank you.
Hi Russ,
Thanks for reading the blog. From what see I am going to say that there will not be one coming for Sierra or going forward for the Phaser 5500. The Phaser 5500 is more than 14 years old and is not listed on the High Sierra compatibility document so they must have decided against issuing a driver for that model. Please consider contacting your local support centre to see if there is a workaround.
Thanks,
CherylO-Xerox
Thanks for the blog post! This did the trick.
Hi Pat,
Your welcome! I am glad to hear it helped you out.
