Windows 10 and Xerox Printers

Have you upgraded to Windows 10? If so you may have some questions about how to setup or install the print drivers for your Xerox equipment on this new OS. Not much has changed about the printer interface and installation from Windows 8 / 8.1 to the new Windows 10.

There are instructions for installing printer drivers in the release notes for the driver for your machine. The support pages will provide you with detailed instructions for installing and configuring the Windows 8/10 printer drivers on your specific device. The Global Printer Driver is also compatible with Windows 10.

Another exceptional resource about the new types of drivers with the Windows 8 / 10 operating system is the compatibility matrix. The matrix will show you which Xerox printers or multifunction devices are compatible with Windows 10. This document also has an extensive explanation of the different types of drivers and instructions for installing and using these drivers complete with screenshots to help walk you through the instructions. I find this document very helpful.

The document includes instructions for the Apps used in conjunction with printing as well. If you have upgraded I hope that you find this information useful. If you will be upgrading soon bookmark this page so that you can find these resources when you need them.

    After W10 installation, the driver was not present but as soon as I power up the printer, W10 installs automatically the driver + Xerox Experience software correctly.

    Xerox 3025BI is a very bad thing. It can’t be installed on windows 10!!

        Xerox 3025BI works very well now. The problem was with usb cable and my new laptop, not with drivers.

    In our college we have 40 xerox units (phaser 6400, 3635, 5740, 7500) on 4 campuses being shared via 4 print servers (2008 and 2012). our desktops are a mix of mac osx.x, windows 7, 8 and some 10. no issues with windows 8 or 10 using the global drivers. i have 2 xerox’s using Branch Office Direct Printing. The last 2 osx versions have required driver updates and pushing drivers have all failed in different ways, but these are a small enouigh amount that manually doing the deployment is acceptable.

    I have a Xerox work centre 6505 and according to Xerox’s website there’s nothing for Windows 10, so customer service told me to download Windows 8, but that the scanner wouldn’t work; how long before Xerox has this product available.

    I bought printer & scanner for a reason, and it did not specify that it was not compatible with Windows 10

If you have and it did not work I would suggest contacting your local support centre and see if they have a workaround or eta for the driver. You may need to request someone at second level. Or you can use the Fast Track to the Expert link found on the support page on the link that I included.

    I have the Xerox 6505 and am looking to enable optional features for a network-connected printer in windows 10. I am looking to enable the layout borderless feature. The Handbook does not include a feature on how to do this for windows 10. Can you please tell me how to do this. Thanks

    I´m using WorkCentre 6015N. At Windows 7 it worked perfectly as printer and scanner via network.
    After installing Windows 10 I´ve got big trouble. Scan funktion is only availabel with USB connection. But i need it in our local netwok.
    Next problem, with USB connection there is no standard configuration of the scanner available.
    I use the 8.1 dtriver 64bit V3.
    How can I connect the scanner in mylocal network?

    Hi,
    having issues with a WC7845 and Win 10,
    the customer has upgraded from win7.
    It scales the MS office document down about 10% when printing, and the driver is set to no scaling.
    Have checked the MS office settings and it looks correct!
    They had no issues with the MS office documents in Win 7?
    Any tip, or any known issues?

    Xerox 3025 Workcenter is working only with limited options !
    After Installing on Windows 10 Printing works, Scanning only with Flat Bed Document feeder Not Optional or Working same with scan to PC !
    We have 5 Units like this and Now only the Win 8 Station can Do all Functions !?!

    Hello,
    i have an phaser6500 , i used windows 7 worked fine. Now i have windows 10 and does not work. After installing , i tried different drivers. The testpage gives an error. Cannot printed.

    Any idea of solution. The office in Amsterdam for the service adviced me an general printer , global printer driver pcl6 for windows 10. But that is also not the solution. And because the garanty is over they can/will not help me !!!

    I have an old Phaser 6130 and just bought all 4 toners.Had to upgrade to win10 and there seems to be no drivers for 6130.Tried Global driver but the test page does not print.Any solutions?

If the type and color do not match what is requested in the driver the print job will get the error you are seeing. If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre.

          Please consider removing any Xerox drivers from your system. Reboot your computer after you remove the driver. Then reinstall the driver and try it again. If it continues to not print from tray 1 please contact your local support centre for assistance.

    I migrated from windows 7 to 10 and now I cannot print Word or Thunderbird mail with my Xerox Phaser 6180NPS but I can print PDF or JPG.

    I have downloaded global driver and installed it but Windows still uses 2006′ USB driver and my problem remains.

    I got a Phaser 6180N PS and since I migrated from windows 7 to 10, I cannot print Thunderbird mail, Word Starter file, but I can print pdf and jpg.
    I’ve remove printer and reinstalled it after downloading new driver but It still doesn’t work.

    I found my device in the compatibility document (Compatibility Matrix), where is shown just a “Version 3 drivers” and additional information: “No Windows 10 Support”. The Win 8 x64 and Win 8.1 x64 drivers are not working. Does it mean, that this device will not work on Windows 10?

    Trying to set up a Xerox WorkCentre 7830 to a Windows 10 machine. Getting an Error Notice regarding invalid accounting codes. that are missing. Tried to follow older instructions but they did not seem relevant to Windows 10. Following this link, http://www.support.xerox.com/support/workcentre-5765-5775-5790/support/enus.html?objGUID=13571, there isn’t a “Configurations” tab at Step 3.

    My Phaser 6130 will not print from MS office aps after upgrading to Windows 10. The troubleshooter says the installation is fine and I can print while on line and pdfs. I’ve tried rebooting and uninstalling the driver. Any other suggestions?

    I have a WorkCentre 3615 after I upgraded to Windows 10 the network scanning will not work at all.
    I’ve checked the SMB Client Setup and did everything as followed but with Windows 10 I can’t get to work. Works fine with Previous Versions of Windows (7, 8, 8.1 & XP).

    Any suggestions please.

    Hi, have WorkCentre 3615 at small office with about 17 computer connected to it via Network.

    3 of which have been upgraded to Windows 10, now they can print fine, But the Network Scan is completely messed up. I’ve done the SMB Client setup both at the computers and the Printer Internet Service. There is no way of getting it to work with Windows 10. Works fine with previous versions of Windows (XP, 7, 8, 8.1).

    Anything that will help me please?!

    Have Windows 10 (1511.10586.213) and a Xerox 8550 printer. NONE of the printer downloads correctly install properly, resulting in error messages “printer is in an error state” or “printer couldn’t print file”. (These error messages are not helpful as I already know that print didn’t occur.) I have tried 6 different X-GPD*.exe files without success (except to develop ulcers). All other non-Xerox printers installed easily and correctly.

    I need help, and I don’t have a “local support’ center. (As a matter of fact, I can’t even find a reference for help from Xerox.) I saw this lengthy comment section – with no answers – and thought I’d take the chance that you (Xerox) may now know the answer to OUR problems.

      Hi Shopkins,
      I understand your frustration but I write a blog so I may not have all the answers that a support centre rep might have. What I have found on your issue is that you should remove all the global or Xerox drivers and reboot your computer. You should be using the global driver or a Xerox PS Color Class driver. The Global Driver is available at this link. Download and run the driver installer from Xerox.com and cancel the wizard and install manually with a Sandard TCP/IP port. If you install a Class driver run the wizard and don’t uncheck the Query printer for driver option it will convert the port to WSD. I hope this helps if not you can try posting a question on the Xerox Community Forumor contact your local support centre, you should be able to find the number here for North America and here for international. This is all I can offer without knowing a lot more specifics about your setup.

    We have a xerox 5225 printer, it installs automatically on windows 10 64 bit but when printing it says printing failed. I tried all drivers of windows 7, 8.1 and 10 but no luck. Also installed universal drivers but still no printing.

      Thank you for reading the article. Please remove or uninstall any previous Xerox drivers. Reboot your computer, then install the global driver on the drivers and download page for your printer. Make sure you follow the instruction for installing the driver. If you still cannot print try to ping your printer to make sure there are no problems with the network connection. If the problem continues please consider contacting your local support centre.

    I have 2 Xerox DocuPrint N2125 printers and a ton of supplies for them. I just love them. Well did the free upload of windows 10 from windows 7 and zip could not get the printers to work. Went to Xerox page and no windows 10 drivers!!! To say the least this is bad news. So for now I had to get another windows 7 computer to run the printers is there any way to get these to work on windows 10?

Please try the Global Print Driver I have not tested it because I do not have that machine available to me. If this does not help please consider contacting support.

    have just upgraded from XP sp2 to Win 10 to find that my Xerox 6125 will not work with new computer.
    It sees and recognises printer but doesn’t have any drivers for it. Tried downloading Xerox drivers but PC cannot find/recognise them
    Please advise

      SOLVED! –Same problem encountered. Solution: use the Windows 8.1 (64 or 32 bit) driver. No compatibilitry problem; it just works fine. So far not seen any shortcoming. It is a scandal that Xerox does not give a (this) solution on their driver download page. It is a scandal that Windows update does not give a (this) solution! The printer is fine, but Xerox is not reliable in their customer assistance. Next printer will be a brand where customer support is better. (Are there better brands?). Brightnoise

    Re: Cheryl The REASONS I bought a Xerox 8550 DP was it is built well, prints very well, and “had” good service help and new drivers when required. This 8550 was installed originally in 2006, and if that is too hold so am I at 80 years of age. Fortunately I found a service for parts, but the printer installation always results with “error state”.

    We are having issues printing booklets on our Xerox C70 and not getting much support from our account rep. For the sake of time (and my sanity), can you please tell me why 8.5×11 folded & stapled booklets in PDF and Microsoft Publisher formats are not printing correctly? They print out shrunken down and not stapled. I can get the machine to fold using the bi-fold option but not fold and staple with the booklet setting on.

    Things to Note:
    -Machine is full stocked with staples.
    -Machine WILL print folded & stapled booklets in other sizes like 11×17 and 8.5×14 but not 8.5×11.
    -Original document is in booklet layout. Setting used is: booklet fold & staple, no page border. Print 2 sided, flip on short edge; have also tried “print only print on one side of sheet” which used to work on our old copier.
    -Windows 10; upgraded from Windows 7. Windows 7 never had any issues printing booklets.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi, great blog. we are using window 10 and have xerox workcentre 6505, downloaded the cpl6 drive . I want to send fax from PC but print options are not showing up as describe ( the option to select fax from paper output is not seen anywhere). do I need to pull up documents in a particular program? Not sure why its not working. thanks for any help!

      Thank you for your comment. If I am understanding correctly you are unable to print from your WorkCentre 3550 using the driver for the Windows 10 64 bit. Please make sure you machine has the latest firmware, upgrade the firmware if needed. Also please look at the information provided in this forum post about the port. I know it is a different machine but the port issue is the same. If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre.

    I have an opportunity to buy a used Phaser 6180. My computer is Windows 10 64 bit. I’m confused by the Matrix chart. It list some drivers for it, but also says “no Windows 10 support”. Will this printer work for me or not?

      Thanks for your comment. The Phaser 6180 can use the Global Driver or Mobile Express Driver on Windows 10 64 bit. There is also a class driver provided by Microsoft. You should be able to print from Windows 10 to the Phaser 6180 with one of those drivers.     Hello Cheryl Otstott,
    could you please help me. I have Xerox workcentre 7345. It is absolutely wonderful machine. When I was using Windows 7 the machine was printing with incredible accuracy. But since I installed Windows 10 the Print quality dropped dramatically. It blurs the poly-lines and text, as if they have a shadow. I believe it is the driver problem because Xerox was printing with absolute accuracy before Windows 10. Now it prints horrible with all the same programs of Adobe reader, MS Office Word and Autodesk AutoCAD.

    I have Xerox 5955 printer. After upgrading all PCs to windows 10, Xerox scan to SMB keeps failing to two PCs. I’ve updated the drivers, changed folder name and confirm share permissions are correct.
    Please do you have any suggestions to resolve the problem. Scan to email works fine.

    This is a very weird thing. I just upgrade into windows 10 64bits my desktop PC, then my Phaser 6000B Color printer was installed correctly, but when I try to print any document containing a picture or image it doesn’t work. Word 2016, for example crashes and gets close every time I send to print a picture. It happens with any program such Word, WordPad, PDF client etc. Even I tried to install the printer in my Windows 10 64bits laptop and the result is the same. If I Installing the printer using a PC with Win7 it works perfect. I re-install several times the latest driver even using the original CD but Windows automatically discard the old driver. Please help! Thank You!

    I have a new computer with Windows 10. I tried installing the Xerox PCL6 64-bit class driver so that my WorkCentre 3210 printer will work with it, but I get a printer error when I try to print a test page. Is this the correct printer driver? Is the WorkCentre 3210 supported in Windows 10?

    Hi,

    I have just bought Fuji Xerox DocuPrint 265 z and the installation seemed working very well until I reached the stage where it told me me to plug in the USB cable, even though I am pretty sure the cable was there. I read here that there might be a compatibility problem with Windows 10 so I uninstalled that program to see if I can go on with the printer installation but despite several attempts, it always stopped at a level very close to the end, asking me to plug in the USB cable. Since my laptop doesn’t have drivers in it, I have to use the Internet software instead of the provided CD for the setting up process, so a cable is a must, even though I went wireless. I suspect that the USB cable is faulty, or is there any other issue that is behind the problem? Thank you very much for your assistance.

    I have a Xerox Phaser 6100. I have used the disk I got when I purchased the printer it’s useless on Windows 10 64-bits. I have tried online drivers and there was no way to make it work. I have also tried different Xerox Phaser Drivers and there is no way to make it work. What should I do? To cry and then forget about it? It was really expensive to buy this printer and I have been using it for years before upgrading to Windows 10.

    We have Xerox Phaser 7100, Xerox 7545 Copier, and Xerox 7845 copier and when we try to print Tabloid (11″x17″) Landscape on Google Earth Pro, it only prints in portrait orientation. I have tried Global driver, printer specific driver, PCL driver, Postscript driver, and all the orientation settings I can find and it will not do Landscape in Tabloid size. We do not have this issue in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite apps, Microsoft Office apps, or any of our other software. And other brand printers can print Tabloid in Google Earth Pro (latest version) without issue.

    How can we get this resolved?

    I have a xerox 7800 and have calibrated it using colormunki photo. It works fine with my mac but the colors are radically off when I print the same PDF from my windows 10 pc. I have chosen the correct icc profiles in device management for both the monitor and printer.

    I’m having problems with my xerox 6505dn. it won’t print the requested number of pages, won’t print mail merge from any program.Just keeps printing and printing… I have tried to reload the firmware, but following the instructions, there is no way to enable the firmware/software download.Everything is missing! Could someone pleas enlighten me? Xerox is of Zero help. Wont allow me to get on their help site, won’t answer my calls or emails… This would be a good printer if it wasn’t for Xerox. HELP, PLEASE.

    Recently bought a workcentre 3615 and installed it on Windows 10. However the scanner won’t work on one of my computers running W10 Home, when I use the Express scan manager it asks me for a USB connection and when I use the Windows scanner and fax it fails to scan. This is the only computer failing, I hav e other running the same OS without troble

    I have a Phaser 6180N that has been operating fine on Win10 for months. Just this morning the output colors have been off – golds come out looking more like a dirty orange or copper color, pale blues look gray.

    I power failed the machine and that did not help.

    I loaded the latest universal driver from the Xerox site and that also did not correct the problem.

    We use Xerox toners (and Xerox paper as well…we’re very brand loyal 😉 so I don’t think those should be an issue.

    Do you have any suggestions for how to rectify the problem?

    After we have installed the PS driver for C60 on Win10, so we does not select manual paper feed from Bypass Tray. We are using the latest PS driver 5.505.5. The status of the paper: “Bypass Tray: OK, 225x320mm, …” but it is not possible to select it. Older drivers in Win7 works without problems.

    We have an issue with printer properties/settings available in windows 7 compared to Windows 10 pro machine.

    Removed the existing devices and reinstalled Xerox printer drivers. However, the option “Finishing” is not available under printer option in the the properties windows, which otherwise is available on Windows 7 machine.

    Xerox 3025 is useless on Windows 10! It doesn’t work at all, not over USB not over Wifi. There is no way to print or scan. It is new printer and last version of Windows. From Chinese unknown brand I would not be much surprised, but Xerox! How can you let typing on your blogs while selling stuff that just isn’t supported and unfunctional!

The error light id flashing, have replaced all the cartridges, done all checks to no avail. Do we need to reload the driver ?     I am trying to get windows 10 computers setup to print to a Xerox 7970 copier using printer codes. They are printing through an Active Directory print server. When people print they are prompted for the code is there a way to have it keep the code for that user and not prompt eveytime?

      Thank you for reading the blog. The prompt for a code is so the accounting system can keep track of the prints for each account. Someone has set it up to require that code so that no one can just walk up and use the machine. Accounting is usually used to monitor activity and /or for charge back to the group or individual for printing and copying services.Turning off the accounting is the way to get it not to prompt anymore.       If the options for accounting are greyed out then the feature was probably configured in the driver at the server and the driver was then pushed down to the individual pcs. You will need to turn the accounting off at that server level using the solutions I linked to your previous post.

    We have a Xerox WorkCentre 5330 V4 PCL6. I started receiving a message that section 1 of the page is outside the printable area. I have tried everything to eliminate this message. I tried Microsoft word suggestions and it does not fix it. I read that it is the printer that needs the attention. I have been printing fine for yrs. This just started happening.     Dear people, I have a disagreement with an Xerox 6121 n, I have installed the printer on 2 laptops but on both laptops I get an error when I print. One laptop is running on windows10 and the other is still on windows 8.1. The installation of the global driver PLC5 and PLC6 seems to be good. What can I do? Other drivers tried but they did not work either.

    Where can I download the scan to PC software? It’s not in the drivers section and it comes on a CD, but I don’t have a CD device. If that’s the only way to install the software, than you are a rather backwards company and that’s the last Xerox product I’m buying. Ever.

You do not mention which machine you are using so I can not supply a direct link but if you navigate to the support page and then enter the model of your machine in the space provided and press enter on your keyboard. Then select the Drivers & Downloads page you will see the current drivers for the printer. If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre.

      Thanks for reading the At Your Service blog. I am going to assume we are talking about a Phaser 6500. If you are printing from Adobe Acrobat please use the print as image setting in Adobe. Also perform an automatic color registration adjustment on the 6500. Try a different ream of paper and make sure you are using paper within the specifications for the machine. If none of this helps please consider contacting your local support centre.

    Hi. I have a phaser 6180 MFP and windows 10.
    I’m able to print successfully, however I don’t appear to be able to scan via USB (I located an old scan driver but I’m getting error code 017-988).
    Additionally, I’m trying to use the Xerox Print Experience app, but I’m getting a window indicating I need a V4 driver. I cannot locate one for my Phaser, and I’m a little hesitant to download some global driver that might affect my ability to print.

      Thank you for reading the blog. Please take a look at the solutions for the error code 017-988. The Global driver is the one you would need to use for your machine and Windows 10. A product specific driver for the Phaser 6180 MFP and Windows 10 was not developed the Global Driver should work for you.     Dear Cheryl-O,
    I use a LAPTOP ( DELL ) computer as my stationary computer at home.
    I have had a XEROX Work Center PE 16 for several years, and have enjoyed every moment of use.
    It still appears as new.
    Since Office 10 was introduced, I was notified that the PE!6 was not compatible with this level of Office 10.
    My daughter purchased a new, small, Korean work center for me, to save the day.
    Now I cry every day.
    Everything is wrong. Printing, quality, size, expensive small toner; Nothing is favorable. Printouts are poor.
    The Far East logic is impossible to understand.
    With the PE 16 I was as at home as a fish in water. It still sits on my desk, and I use it for print-outs and copying.
    I am not willing to give it up.
    It cannot be possible that XEROX have made this happen to cause people such as myself, NOW 84 years old, to have an only alternative, and that is to buy a new one.
    I require help from you to up-grade this P E 16 so that I may enjoy my years with such a great ” XEROX”
    Hoping to get some positive feedback from you.

    Hi all. I need some help scanning a document on a Workcenter 7225 printer. I have the printer connected on a Wireless network and I want to scan 1 document. When I go to Scan and Fax (windows 10) and I am trying to scan the page it appears an error saying that my printer is not connected and to make sure I that the connection is made properly. What is making me more curious is that if I want to print something it works very well. Please note I tried to go on Printer And Fax to add printer and the printer is added and selected as default, as it should be. Any advice?

    Hello, I have a Xerox Workcentre 3045 B printer and I have a new HP laptop with windows 10, I already install the printer drivers but I do not recognize it.
    I install the program and wanting to print it tells me that there are no updated drivers for the printer model I have, and try to install it with the universal Xerox driver but it does not show the printer model that I have and I do not want to buy a new printer , my printer is currently in excellent condition so I do not want to change it.

    Can you help me please

It would be best to remove any Xerox drivers you may have loaded on the laptop, reboot the laptop and the load the product specific driver for Windows 10.     Windows 10 with Xerox WorkCentre 7855 – I can no longer find the setting for Print To Side Tray. Before I upgraded to Windows 10 it was there and easy to find. Now all my print jobs go to the main output tray and I cant find the setting to change it to my preferred output destination of side tray.

    Dear CherylO-Xerox.
    Suddenly my Xerox Phaser 6000 does not print anymore over the USB-port. This is my second Xerox 6000 with this problem. Because no one could give me any solution when I got this problem about 1 year ago, I did throw de first printer away. But now I am having the same problem with my second printer. It seems that my laptop cannot get connection with my laptop over the USB-port. When I press the red reset button at the same time as the menu button, it prints the status pages normally and with colours, so the printing functions from the printer are ok.
    Removing the USB- and the power cable and reconnecting them don’t give any solution. Afterwards I removed the printer from my system and connected the cables again, my laptop does don’t recognize the printer automatically even not afterwards I restarted my laptop. Because I removed the printer completely from my system, did a C:\ disk clean up I installed the last Dutch drivers x64 for Win10 from the Xerox site. Still my printer will not be recognized anymore by the laptop. It seems that the internal USB-port in the printer does not work correct anymore, because other USB-devices will be recognized when I connect them with my laptop.
    Printing Scout does not recognize my printer even with Win 10, but that is, I think, another problem. But because Printing Scout does not work correctly I cannot make a fault diagnosis or try some reset functions even.
    Do you probably have a solution for this problem(s)? Thanks for your reply. Mr. Klaas C. den Breejen. Rotterdam (NL).

If you still have not gotten it to work, check to make sure you have a good cable going between the laptop and printer. You might want to try a different cable.     Hello, could you please help me? I have a new printer work centre 3025, Windows 10, I have downloaded the drivers from the web page you recommend for Windows 8/10, the printer printed around 100 pages already, after started to say there is no paper…and stopped working, I moved the paper, switched on and off the printer, computer, put new paper, nothing happened…later the printer started to work again for some while and again the same problem appeared. Now the printer says put new toner, the one which is inside still printed normally. The printer is one week old. Do you have any suggestion how to resolve the problem? Is it the printer with a problem form the fabrics or what can it be? How can I adjust it? Thank you very much for your support!!!

    I have a xerox 6600dn printer. Since the Windows 10 update on the machine it is attached to via usb updated i cannot print from windows 7 workstations thru the network. I fixed the permissions that changed and am able to load the printer thru the network on a windows 10 workstation successfully. When I attempt to load on a Windows 7 thru the network it finds the printer and begins the installation but then says the printer is not available.

    Hi, I’ve a phaser 6000B and I’ve a serious problem with printing scout.
    About a month ago, after a win update, printing scout does’n t work.
    Printer run with a generical driver but printer scout display me a message about: NO SYSTEM PRINTER SUPPORTED
    I’ve deinstalled driver and reinstalled new driver (win 10 64b – file name is Xerox6000_6010_Print_Installer.exe) but nothing happened…
    I’ve to change printer and pass to another brand!?
    Pls help.

If you are having an issue with the software working with Windows 10 make sure you are using the most up to date version of the software.       Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. If you are not seeing the image option tab please uninstall the driver and reboot your computer. Install the driver again making sure you are either using the product specific driver or the global driver. Do not use the class drivers included with Windows you may not get all your printing options. If this does not help please consider contacting your local support centre.
