Xerox® Print Drivers and Windows Server® 2012 R2

We receive questions frequently about how to install and uninstall drivers in the server environment. You can find steps for installing and uninstalling on the support pages for your printer or multifunction printer. There is also another resource I want to share with you. There is a Customer Tip that gives you step by step instructions to walk you through the procedures of how to install and uninstall the drivers and queues from the Windows Server 2012 R2.

Uninstalling seems to be the biggest question so let’s look at those steps specifically. First you need to delete the print queue and then delete the print driver. Here are the steps from the customer tip reproduced here for your convenience.

Procedure to Delete a Print Queue
Caution: Deleting shared print queues from a print server will disable printing on any client where the print queue is loaded.

  1. Open the Print Management Console
  2. Expand Print Servers, and then expand the Print Server name and Select ‘Printers’
  3. Find the print queue you would like to delete and right click on the printer icon
  4. Select ‘Delete’
Note: You may be required to enter administrator credentials
  5. Select [Yes] when asked “Are you sure you want to delete the printer?” The device will disappear from the ‘Printers’ list
  6. runStop and Restart the print spooler
    a. Open a command prompt as administrator (If ‘Run’ is not listed on the start menu then search ‘Run’ and then type in ‘cmd’ and click OK)
    b. Type “net stop spooler”
    c. Select [Enter]
    d. Once the spooler is stopped type “net start spooler”
