OS-X-YosemiteXerox tries to provide up-to-date drivers when new operating systems are launched. Sometimes getting those drivers out takes more time then we imagined and sometimes drivers for legacy or older products are not created. Whatever the reason some of you are having trouble getting your Xerox printers and multifunction devices printing from Apple Mac® 10.10 otherwise known as Yosemite. In this article I am going to provide a few of the suggestions that have worked for other customers. These ideas come from the Customer Support Community.

Suggestion 1: “create an IP version of the printer rather than using the default Bonjour® connection. Click the “IP” pane of “Add printer” and enter the IP address of your printer and then setup is the same… I did this and when printing to it printed instantly.”

Suggestion 2: “Recently got my Phaser 7760 working, via the Mavericks driver installer, in Yosemite, by changing the OSX® version numbers in SystemVersion.plist (Hard drive->System->Library->CoreServices->SystemVersion.plist) to 10.9.5 so the installer program thought it was in Mavericks, even when it was in Yosemite. After the install process, I changed SystemVersion.plist back again, to, in my case, 10.10.1”

Suggestion 3: “I rolled back my driver to get the most from my Phaser… rolling back to 10.9 did nothing but rolling back to 10.8 and magically everything connected and started communicating as normal, with all the printer options I’m used to. Don’t know if that would work for everyone but after pulling my hair out over the past month this has been working for the last several days, incident-free.”

Suggestion 4: “It looks as though Apple have now included the Xerox Phaser 7760 print driver in the Xerox Printer Software Update v 2.3. You can download it from here if the update doesn’t show in SU.
If you Delete the Phaser 7760 in Preferences > Printers & Scanners, run the update, add printer and pull down to Select Software and from the list of printers that appears in a new dialogue box scroll down to Xerox Phaser 7760 (whatever version you have).
Just to let you know, in my experience with this issue, I tried installing a new full installation of 10.10.2 downloaded from the App Store, also I downloaded a Combo version of 10.10.2, but the Phaser 7760 print driver wasn’t included in either of these updates.”

These suggestions may also work for other Printers and Multifunction Devices than those mentioned in the posts.
