Are Print Drivers Driving You Crazy?

encryptionIf you are having out of the ordinary or just plain weird printing issues that come on all the sudden for no reason you may have a corrupt driver.  I can’t tell you how it became corrupt, maybe there are little gangs of roving code in your computer running around corrupting other programs.  Who really knows the root cause but it does happen.  In order to rid yourself of the printing errors you may need to uninstall the driver completely and then re-install the driver. 

To uninstall the driver on some operating systems you have to delete the print queue first or you may have to delete pending jobs that are in the queue or spooler.  So make sure you look up the instructions for uninstalling in the support page(s) for your printer.  Search for “remove” or “uninstall” on your support page(s).  Follow all the steps to make sure that you completely remove the driver and its components otherwise the “corruption” may remain and you will continue to see the problem. 

When you re-install the driver be sure you check the drivers and download page for your machine and use the most current driver for your printer.  The installation instructions are also available from the support page(s) for your printer.  Look up the installation instructions for the operating system you are using.

If you are working with a MAC you can find the uninstall / reinstall instructions on the support page(s) for your device. 

Once the driver has been uninstalled and then reinstalled the printing problems should be a thing of the past.
