Fault, Error, Problem Codes – Let’s Fix Them

Picture it — You are having a perfectly calm and uneventful day and then it happens…a fault code on the Xerox printer!!  Your pulse quickens and your mind reels, you begin wondering what did I do?  What should I do?  Is the fault code my fault?  Has anyone seen me here?  Can I get away without anyone seeing me?  Well calm down take a deep breath and let’s try to make this a little easier. 

First a fault code on your Xerox printer and or multifunction device is not always as disastrous as you might imagine, no reason to slink away from the machine. The fault code is just a way for your machine to tell you there is a problem and it needs some help.  So next write down the complete code and any accompanying error message, the fault code will be numbers and/or letters and may include commas, periods or hyphens.  Then find a device on which you can access the internet.  At the computer or smart device go to Xerox.com and then select the Support & Drivers tab at the top.  Enter the model of your Xerox printer or multifunction device in the field provided and then select the machine and select Support.  On the machine support page you will see the “Search For Keyword or Phrase:” field.  You can enter the fault code there or right under that field you can click on the “Fault Code Search” link.  A new screen will be displayed where you can enter the fault code or you can scroll through all the codes looking for the one you wrote down from your machine.

Once you locate the code in the list click on the link and you will be presented with solutions you can try to fix the issue causing the code.  Not all codes require service.  Many can be solved by the operator, that’s you.  So don’t slink away and leave it to someone else just look it up and give resolving the issue yourself a try.  It will get your machine up and running sooner and make you the office hero. 

But as always if you can’t get it working, give us a call at Xerox support and we will do what we can to fix the error.

      Help me about I am not able to join the forum of xerox because it’s says to enter a valid U.S contact number. I am from Pakistan and I don’t have the U.S contact number. How can I join the xerox forum.
      Secondly I have a XEROX WORKCERTRE 5875 and I have an issue of Novell NetWare printing error. Code is 16-563-00. I am not able to print any file from network. Can anybody help me about this? I searched for solution from xerox’s website but still I didn’t got any help way.

        Thank you for reading the blog. For the forum you will have to enter a number in the format of a US number, for example 555-555-5555. Please fill in the rest of the form with correct information. The fault code you are seeing indicates an issue with the Network Controller, Network Services / Controller
        (Scan to E-Mail, Internet Fax, USB Wireless, etc.). I would suggest unplugging the network cable from the printer and then turn the printer off, wait 2 minutes, plug the network cable back in and then turn back on the printer, try printing again. If it still will not print perform a software reset. If you are still unable to print please consider contacting your local support centre.

    The Support is not giving any solutions. The NTP settings are the same as before, nothing changed.

    I have a Xerox WC7845, I am trying to use it to fax from my desktop.
    I added the WC drivers, gave it the IP of the Printer for my workstation selected the fax mode, added dail option, cover sheet, now when I select the fax mode from my drop down and try to fax nothing happens. Any suggestion.

    I’ve lost the ability to print from any of my browsers. Printing from applications works fine. I’ve deleted then reinstalled the printer drivers & software, but that has not changed things. Any hints?

    I have a question for you Cheryl…..I am working on a WC7830 with an error code of 389.510. I don’t seem to be able to find this error code in the manual or on the support page of Xerox. I have found all the other error codes except for this one and this particular error code happened twice in a row and it is the newest error code on machine. Any additional information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help

    When the machine is reset, the same error comes back.
    I have turned off, removed power cord, left for an hour, etc….

If you have already powered off with both power switches on the machine and have checked the power source, it should be a dedicated outlet not an extension cord or surge protector to eliminate those devices as the problem then service would be required.

    i have xerox 5855 photocopier the fault in this great machine is that the chips that are in xerograhic and fuse module are declining very fast we change the chip it shows 100% but the next we found it 30% remaining we are in great problem. please tell me the method , the procedure to overcome this problem. i want the chip to remain 100% always if there is some way please let me know. i am waiting for your response.

    I am using Xerox WorkCentre 5735. From few days whwn i start machine an error massage is display that ‘ Power Supply Fault. copying and printing unavailable’.
    The fault code is shown : 03-500 for power supply fault and 14-563 for scanner need service.
    How to solve this error.

Wait 2 minutes and then plug the machine back in directly to the outlet, no power strip or surge protector. If it powers up correctly it may have been something with whatever you were plugging it into. If it still faults try perform a software reset on the machine.       Thank you for reading the blog. The error code 19,033.48 is a Printer Error code. If turning the machine off, waiting 60 seconds and then turning it back on does not clear the error. Try turning it off remove the network cable and turn the machine back on with out the cable connected. If it starts up normally you may have an issue with your network. If it still fails with the error code then you would need to contact your local service centre, you may need a service call.

    I have workcentre 5755 mainly used to print barcode stickers. Every third sheet was printed with black bar stripes and the machine got stucked and not working ( Even after cleaning R2 module) Every time i have to reboot the machine .

    I Know this may be a dumb question. I recently purchased a used XEROX DOCUCOLOR 252.
    Im having trouble installing it in my computer, i have no clue wich drivers to download.
    I tried conecting it via usb but it doesnt recognize it.
    I have figured out that there is different versions of this printer, with different color servers. THEREFORE DIFFERENT DRIVERS.
    Could you help me figure out wichone is the one i have and wich drivers I need.

      Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. For the codes you are seeing if powering off the machine, waiting 1 full minute and powering back on does not clear the error then follow these steps to perform a software reset:
      CAUTION: Depending on the state of the printer, a software reset may delete all pending jobs from the print queue.
      IMPORTANT: Using Software Resets to restart the printer is faster and wastes fewer consumables than powering the printer off and on.

      To reset the system software from the Control Panel:

      Press the Log In/Out button on the Control Panel.
      Login as the device Administrator (Default Username: admin, Default Password: 1111).
      Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. The Machine Status screen will be displayed.
      Select the [Tools] tab on Touch Screen.
      Select the [Troubleshooting] button.
      Select the [Resets] button.
      Select the [Software Reset] button.
      Select [All Software].
      Select [Reset].
      Select the [Reset] button on the Software Reset Confirmation screen. The printer will reboot.

      NOTE: The printer will not be available for printing, or viewable through CentreWare Internet Services (CWIS), until the Network Controller completes the reboot process and reconnects to the network.

    Hello, our Xerox Work Center 7845 is giving us the following error message, “Finishing Error. Call for Assistance.” It does not give an error code. I’ve tried turning it off with both switches and unlugging it for 10 minutes then plugging it back in. The error first appeared after I tried to print on light weight card stock which is within the machines paper specifications. I had the settings on the computer and tray both set to lightweight cards stock. Can you please help me find a solution?

      Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. The 07 fault codes usually have something to do with your paper supply. So check the paper trays, make sure they are loaded properly and that there is not damaged, folded, crooked paper in the tray. Take the paper out, fan it and place it back in the tray. Try a new stack of paper. If the error continues please consider contacting your local support centre.

    After removing jammed paper, printer phaser 6020 showed an error 009-953. The panel error light is on together with the letter “K”. What can be done? I’ve already checked the cartridges and switched it off and on.

    Ready to scan. Copying and Printing not available
    Imaging error. Power Off then On and Notify system administrator
    One or more queued jobs need resources.

Once you have removed any cables or cords, power off the machine, wait a full 60 seconds and the turn the machine back on. If the error continues please consider contacting your local support centre.

    HI

    I have a Xerox Workcentre C2424 and it has given me an error code I simply cannot find in the Xerox code error list.

    On startup, it gives an error “Prog Machine Check Error [2.1]” when it is running disk test. I haven’t seen this error before so it has stumped me.
