Windows 8 is Here and Xerox is Ready

Whether you already have your copy of Windows 8 or are planning on getting it soon or hoping to receive it for the holidays we’ve got you covered! Windows 8 launched and Xerox is ready with drivers for your products.  Windows 8 is different and therefore the look and feel of the drivers are different as well.  We have many of the Windows 8 drivers ready for our products and others will be issued soon. 

To find a complete list please check out the compatibility document for Windows 8.  Information for installing and using the drivers is also available in the document.  If you are thinking about upgrading to the new OS please take a look at the document.  The drivers themselves, if available for your machine, are on the support page for your machine under the drivers tab. 

If a driver is not yet available for your machine and the matrix shows if there will be one issued please visit your support page or the matrix periodically to see if the driver has been issued. 

The online support will be updated as required with new solutions and how tos for the Windows 8 operating system.  Please remember that our online support pages are always being upgraded with new information so always check it out when you are looking for information about how to use or troubleshoot your machine. 

Another great resource for information is the Customer Support Community Forum, there you can ask questions and get answers from your peers that are using the same products as you are using. There have already been questions asked and answered about Windows 8 drivers.  Forums is a great resource available to you 24 hours a day.  Register for the forum today.

    What are we supposed to do until Xerox gets round to providing a Windows 8 driver for my printer (Phaser 6189DN). I have paid for support through September 2014, and since adopting Windows 8, I now have no duplex facility on the printer. Pretty poor show in my opinion.

Please check the driver page for the machine and see if this is the driver you have been waiting for. If not please try the Global driver with your machine.

      Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. The latest information I have is from 12/20/2012 and they said the drivers for your machine should be available in the 1st quarter of 2013. In the meantime have you tried using the Global Driver? You may not get all your features but the Global Driver should work in the meantime. Looking on the German site the Windows 8 driver is available and has been since 2013. If this is not what you are looking for please consider contacting your local support centre.

    What about the driver for 6121 ? The printer is not the newest, but it isnt that old. I think I will have problems buying Xerox in the future, if you produce products without drivers.

    Hello, I have a Xerox Phaser 6180 and just bought a new Dell laptop with Windows 7 and I get an error every time I try to print. I can print PDF files, but not anything in Microsoft word, excel or any internet browser. help please! thanks

    We have several work center products that use the standard auditron setting under “accounting” under what used to be the advanced tab on the printer set up/configuration settings. I don’t see any mechanism to set this up and the users can’t print without entering their copy codes.

    I have a phaser 6180. After upgrading to windows 8, the phaser no longer prints. I went to Xerox and downloaded V3 driver and Xerox color class driver for windows 8. Both gave error printing the test page.

    I migrated from Win 7 to a new Win 8 computer with all data transferred. The new computer sees my Xerox Phaser 6180 as the default printer. However, when I want print, it says ‘….cannot print due to the current set-up’. I downloaded 2 of your new Win 8 drivers for 6180, neither of them can recognize my 6180. Please help. Thank you.

If you are able to successfully ping the printer, please consider removing the drivers and reinstalling. Make sure that you are using the correct version 32 bit or 64 bit depending on your system.     Hi. I have been having issues with the duplex unit on my Phaser 6180 since i have upgraded to Windows 8. It consistently says that it is unavailable. Even with the 3 different drivers that I have installed. Windows 7 on my laptop does not have this issue and I have been able to print double sided with it. Please help.

      Thank you for reading the At Your Service blog. Please make sure that the duplex unit is checked as a installed option in the driver. I am including steps that should help but were not writen directly for Windows 8.
      1. Enable the Duplex Unit option in the print driver on all computers that have the printer installed:
      a.For Windows 2000, click on the [Start] button, click on [Settings], and then click on [Printers]. The Printers window will be displayed. For Windows XP / Server 2003, click on the [Start] button, click on [Settings] (if necessary), and then click on [Printers and Faxes]. The Printers and Faxes window will be displayed.
      b.Right-click on the printer icon and then click on [Properties]. The Properties window will be displayed.
      c.Click on the [Device Settings] tab.
      d.Click on [Duplex Unit] under the Installable Options section.
      e.Select [Available] from the pull-down menu provided.
      f.Click on [OK].

    ya, that’s the damn answer I get always, please contact the customer support or Download the drivers from so & so page. Neither the drivers works and nor the customer support are able to support anything. NON fo the things work. I have phaser 6200 and phaser 6180. HP is far far better then this, they have all the drivers updated in no time and they work very fine. I am really frustrated after buying these expensive printers with expensive cartridges.

    I have been unable to install the Windows 8 driver for my Workcentre 4118 onto my new computer. I have looked at your Windows 8 Compatability document and the Workcentre4118 device is not listed. I have also tried adding the Windows 8 Global Print Driver, but when it is installing it cannot detect any printers on my system so will not let me progress with the installation. Could you please let me know what I ought to do next?

    Dear Ursula M. Burns:

    Would you be so kind and direct your staff to resolve problems with Xerox printer/scanner drivers for Windows 8.1? In my case for WorkCentre 3220, but from the Internet postings it seems problem affects other printers/scanners too.

    This matter is especially disappointing since the Web site http://www.support.xerox.com shows “Windows 8.1 x64 WC3220 Print and Scan Installer” dated “Apr 9, 2103”, while apparently Windows 8.1 was released to OEM hardware vendors on August 27, 2013, and released publicly as a free download on October 17, 2013. Unfortunately for me, I did not pay attention to those troubling details until now, to my detriment.

    I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter, as at no fault of mine I already wasted a lot of time trying to make work what seems is not workable at this point.

        As I explained before, WorkCentre 3220 is a combination of a printer, a scanner and a fax. Windows 8.1 driver works fine for printing, but does NOT for scannong (both, a network and an USB interface). Based on entries on this blog, it seems Xerox has systemic problem with Windows 8.1 drivers. Also, I am not sure what do you mean by “contact your local support”. How do I find my “local support”?

    I have Windows 8.1 and the Xerox Phaser 6200N. I downloaded the Global Print Driver. GPDriver is saying it does not recognize the 6200N. The 6200 is on the compatible list for the GPDriver. I’m at a loss.

      All of our drivers are identified within these document: Xerox equipment compatibility with new operating systems. If the driver is available it is identified, and if due to come out soon there should be a timeline. You may always contact support for alternatives: 1-800-821-2797. We have global print drivers that allow the device to print but it is best to talk to the tech for their assistance and recommendations.

    I have a Xerox Documate 152 scanner, which I have loved. When Windows updated from 8.0 to 8.1, my scanner keeps giving me an error message. After completely removing the software using the tools provided by Xerox and installing new OneTouch software and drivers, I still get the same error message. I was told by Tech Support that the problem is with the firmware. Does that make sense?

    Dear,
    I use a Phaser 6121 MFP printer/scanner combination. On my new PC (Windows 8.1 64kb) this machine is found as a scanner, not as a printer.
    On you support page for this printer/scannner combination I only find a ‘Xerox PrintBack Agent’, which is meant for IOS and Android tablets and smartphones, not for PC’s.
    Installing the Global Print Driver is not an option as the PC does not find the printer.

    Windows 8.1
    Phaser 6121MFP

    Downloaded / tried Global Drive but, system doesn´t print
    Xerox support site does not provide a driver
    Windows 8 detects and identifies the printer correctly but driver list does not show 6121 MFP

    recommendation / fix please
